"The Poison and The Cure" The Path of Transformation and Experiences. This Blog is a library of esoteric material and literature. The snake that cannot shed its skin perishes. Likewise those spirits who are prevented from changing their opinions, they cease to be spirits. ~ Friedrich Nietzsche

Spiritual Initiation ~ The Private Initiation ~
The journey to enlightenment is one govern by initiation or awakening.
I prefer to call this "Private" rather than "Self Initiation." It is the least (first) and the greatest (last) initiation into all levels, of all occult endeavors, it is being "a Master and a Novice" at the same time. And your crown and belt is "Wisdom and Understanding."
This is a ritual of initiation that no other manifested being will attend and participate in with you, it is not just a coming to a crossroad or impasse in your path and journey through the physical realm, where you have decisions and choices to make concerning the directions to take in your path. We all encounter crossroads, which school or college to attend, which job or career, which religion and faith to follow, to stay married or not, down to the simple mundane of seeking directions in rather to speak up in a situation or to remain silent. Your Spiritual Initiation is more to that of having reached the summit, a gate and threshold, that has narrowed your options into one direction, straight ahead over the threshold, no left and right directions and to turn back would be total annihilation (of the current you) and useless for you.The personal paradigm shift, where the lines to "labels and definitions" blur, no longer giving you navigational reasoning and logic.
Carl Yung said, "Man is never helped in his suffering by what he thinks for himself, but only by revelations of wisdom greater than his own. It is wisdom, which lifts him out of his distress. Hence we find that after years of therapy, some people's quest for deeper meaning is still not quenched. They then become spiritual seekers, drinking from the fountain of their inner perennial wisdom."
To step over the threshold and into the private, self, spiritual initiation is not meant that you leave everything you have gathered on your journey, up to that point, behind. Your past learning, history and experiences were for a reason, the gathering of all these will now be transformed (and sometimes, mutated) to help give you back your navigational bearings and guide you on to your next travel and phase. Connecting with Spirit is man's highest achievements, our higher consciousness alchemically affects our whole being and our world. It is being initiated into the realm of Spirit (Higher Self, the immortal realm) rather than into the realm of physically manifested peer groupings of ranks, your true teacher/s are not in this physical realm, but will use the physical to help further you along.
Spiritual adept Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov said, "You will never improve nor transform yourself by accumulating knowledge in your head. To be sure, this knowledge can broaden your mind and point of view, but that is only on the surface, you will always be the same underneath, remarkable as far as general knowledge is concerned, a veritable one-man information bureau. But as far as character, virtues and qualities are concerned, nothing will be changed. Whereas knowledge of your spirit, the divine science, obliges you to penetrate to the depths and climb to the heights, and it is not possible to be unchanged by it. It is through inner knowledge that we grow and mature."
Your solitary practice and private initiation is the foundation and corner stone for all other practice, craft and arts you may be guided to enter in to. The inner temple will remain long after the outer temple waste away, our true connection to others is in the spirit realm.
Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote in his well known essay on history, "There is one mind common to all individual men. Every man is an inlet to the same and to all of the same. He that is once admitted to the right of reason is made a freeman of the whole estate. What Plato thought, he may think; what the saint felt, he may feel; what at any time has befallen any man, he can understand. Who hath access to this universal mind is a party to all that is or can be done, for this is the only and sovereign agent. It is Spirit and not the fact that is identical. By descending far down into the depths of the soul, and not primarily by painful acquisitions of many skills, the artist attains the power of awakening other souls to a given activity."
